No matter how fast you are, there are some things you can't outrun.

VELOCITUS MAXIMUS is the first Cybertronian speedster. He is not just one of the oldest living Transformers in existence; he is the last of the legendary Thirteen Transformers created by PRIMUS himself. After the original titanic confrontation with Unicron, he shunned the idea of being a living legend, and so was reconfigured to better blend in with the masses of early Cybertronians, changing his name to IMPULSE. Despite his yearning towards pacifism, IMPULSE found himself serving in the Great Revolt against the Quintessons that is now known as the First Cybertronian War, and into the Second Cybertronian War, before being captured by the original leader of the Decepticons, THE FALLEN. Experimented upon ruthlessly in an attempt to discover the nature of his speedster abilities throughout most of the Second Cybertronian War, IMPULSE ultimately disappeared from the known historical record during a struggle with THE FALLEN, leaving the Decepticons free to pursue their ongoing agenda. His cybercar altmode is extraordinarily fast and agile, yet durable enough for any rough-and-tumble vehicle combat. Devout and circumspect, IMPULSE created Circuit-Su, Crystalocution and the main tenets of Metallikato, incorporating his speedster abilities into his teachings to hone himself into a most formidable opponent in melee; even so, he has been known to perform strange, almost arcane feats at times. Haunted by the torturous experiments of the Decepticons, and yet uneasy around the Autobots due to his lack of understanding of how they will react to him, IMPULSE can still be baited into unwise confrontations –- the remnants of a reckless, impulsive streak a megamile wide that he was originally known for. But with the return of THE FALLEN from the interdimensional void, one thing is certain: IMPULSE will not be far behind, and the legendary first speedster will once more face down the fiery maw of Hell itself.

History[]

Canonical/Pre-MUX/Theme History:[]

Velocitus Maximus, only reluctantly known as the Thirteenth Prime, sought something more than simply the purpose for which he was created: he sought spiritual enlightenment. It is suspected that the results of this quest were the development of Cybertronian martial arts of Circuit-Su and Crystalocution, from which Metallikato was later derived.

At the subtle manipulations of Liege Maximo, Velocitus Maximus was the one who pushed for the Thirteen to travel back in time and destroy Unicron before Primacron could create him, thus undoing the growing divisions and corruption that had been caused by Unicron in their original meeting. That attempt was doomed to failure, resulting in the loss of at least Quintus Prime and Vector Prime. As a result, he is vehement in his stance that time travel should never be an option to try and undo the past.

This catastrophe also was the defining act that convinced Velocitus Maximus that he would not abide by being considered a living legend, in the same manner that the rest of the Thirteen enjoyed. With the help of Alpha Trion, Velocitus took on a different form by which he could mingle with other Cybertronians more freely: Impulse.

He did help Alpha Trion and the consumer goods who would later become Autobots during the Great Revolt against the Quintessons (now known as the First Cybertronian War), saddened and yet resolved to deal with the Quintessons after the death of Prima.

Captured by Megatronus and the Decepticons during the Second Cybertronian War after discovering through unknown means that Impulse was actually Velocitus Maximus, Megatronus allowed his generals to experiment on Impulse to discern the nature of his speedster capabilities – this ultimately proved to be a mistake, as the Decepticon generals used Impulse to devise a weapon that would tap into Impulse’s speed, casting both him and Megatronus outside time.

MUX History:[]

Impulse's existence was discovered by both Incognito and Nemesis through the holo-avatar of Alpha Trion within the Chamber of Vector Sigma in the Earth year 2018, not too long after Nemesis disappeared from the Decepticon ranks and a few months after Rartorata had freed The Fallen from the interdimensional void prison into which he and Impulse had both been cast. The pair devised a plan: Nemesis would lay the groundwork to distract the Fallen, while Incognito would attempt to gather support to help free Impulse from the same prison to level the playing field.

While Nemesis was able to begin devising his own plan to potentially eliminate The Fallen within Tyger Pax, Incognito was met with skepticism -- in the end, he and Dust Devil ventured into the underworld of Cybertron beneath Valvolux during the Battle of Tyger Pax, where Nemesis was slain by The Fallen -- only to give Tyger Pax the rebirth it deserved by reformatting it into its glory. With that distraction, Incognito and Dust Devil managed to free Impulse, and he immediately raced to Tyger Pax to face The Fallen.

Impulse's reticence to use his status as one of the Thirteen, however, meant that Brainstorm and other Autobots devised a means of stopping The Fallen -- by utilizing time travel. Despite warning Dust Devil of the dangers of such an attempt, the Autobots did so anyway, changing the past by bringing Solus Prime to the present while The Fallen intercepted the Requiem Blaster shot that history recorded as killing Solus Prime.

Furious that the Autobots had proven so reckless and unwilling to listen to the voice of personal experience, Velocitus Maximus vented his ire -- verbally -- on Dust Devil before disappearing. It is rumored that he met with the remaining members of the Thirteen at some point afterwards, but he has not been seen since.
