Frogmen can swim in deep waters and fight through strong currents to get to their objective. The Undertows take that advantage one up with being equipped and willing to swim in the foulest water environment imaginable. They go where normal frogmen don't go which are polluted harbor bays, industrial waste water and the sewers. They wear non-corrosive, near-hermetically sealed wet-suits and they undergo special anti-infection shots that gives them some immunity from all but the strongest pathogens.
History
Canonical/Pre-MUX/Theme History:
Any frogman can operate efficiently in clean water, under optimum conditions, but UNDERTOW are specially trained to function and fight in the murky, polluted waters that clog busy industrial and military waterfronts. Their wetsuits are made of a non-toxic, anti-corrosive material. Their facemasks are coated with silicone to repel oil slicks, and are organically conditioned against hostile biological agents and infections. With these suits, Undertow will swim through ANYTHING. They make leeches look friendly by comparison. It's almost impossible to defeat them in their own environment. When opponents have to take on UNDERTOW in their own backyard, they first have to get tetanus booster shots before they move out for action. The best defense against them is to keep a safe distance and throw grenades from behind a well-fortified enclosure.
MUX History:
For years, Undertow 7189 was SIC of the Cobra Naval Forces. In 2015, Undertow Officer was put in charge of Undertow.
