Ultrix was once a city along the lines of what would pass for the coast of Cybertron. Along one of the great open ended oceans. A natural harbor. Populated by those whom had sea alt modes, and many, many artisans. Particularly performers. Ultrix had never had an extensive industry nor production base, nor any exorbitant projects and flamboyant, extravagant works there. So as the Third Cybertronian Civil War started, there was a hope amongst its populace that it might avoid the worst of the war - having nothing particularly worth taking, nor anything offensive or overly grandeur which might offend. In 2021, Ultrix began a modern renaissance, serving as the host of the first concert put on by Trypticon. However, all of its potential was literally destroyed by an orbital strike that cratered the small seaside city, turning into a new bay in the Mithril Sea.

Current Description

Ultrix was a small seaport along the Mithril Sea. The city had a reputation early in the war as being a center of the arts and had long since lost any semblance of that state until recently. It is a small seaport based around the sea and a fashionable harbor. Metallic decks went out to the Mithril Sea, long since rusted to disuse with the passing of what little shipping industry Cybertron had that was not done by space or cargo hauler. Various warehouses and dockyards that used to have small amounts of goods lie empty, most of the machines in the cargo yards stripped for parts.

Where once wide, expansive open spaces were, adorned with performance venues, a city coming back to life now lies destroyed. An immense crater forms from where once a tower, only recently redesigned once stood, backfilled by debris and the Mithril Sea itself. Gouges of burnt and melted metal ripple across the former sleepy town, nothing over a single story remains, and what does remain is shattered, a showcase of burnt out frames of what once was.

The broken arch of the Amphitheater juts forlornly out of the sea itself, waves crashing against its pillars, covering the ancient seats and rippling across what is now another cove, debris and skeletal building remnants poking out here and there through the silvery surface.

Former Description

Ultrix is a small seaport along the Mithril Sea. Or to be more accurate was one.

The city has wide, expansive, open spaces adorned with a variety of performance venues meant for singing, art, and crafting. Mostly are still long disused, as if they they have not been used in tens of millennia. Yet as of late, there has been some non-military industry sprouting up in the city. On the shoreline, one of the more ancient amphitheaters has been delicately rebuilt and reinforced. To the east of it, a wide expanse of ground has been gently cyberformed creating a series of pads that look as if they could be used for arts festivals, or the landing of ships. There are covered walkways from the series of tarmac grade pads leading to the amphitheater and to the seaside itself where the seawall has been repaired in sections, creating a sea-walk area.

There are few other large buildings in the city. Those that are, are mostly modular. Brusque. Efficient. Buildings constructed when the city was occupied by the Decepticon garrison. A few sensor towers and defensive turrets line the horizon with one of the spires recovered in a style that pulls from the cities own architecture, arches reaching upwards in delicate twists, balconies and a large communication array atop it. There are even whimsical downspouts shaped like native and creatures of legend adorning the gutters along the tiers now with the Decepticon Emblem in subtle hues of steel and lavender over the arches.

In the mostly abandoned city, with a minimal garrison and an even smaller non-combatant presence, there had been a sense of ennui. There is still a general air of disuse, a gentle filter of a slower sense, a sleeping presence still burdened by the lack of care. Whatever spark this city once had remains in embers, slowly fanned by the recent activity.

Pads

These are a series of large, titan class landing pads interconnected like piers for a bridge. Their construction reaches deep into the planets crust, the staggered design in place to balance out whatever may land atop them more effectively without the need for a full scrape and build. At the sea edge and the amphitheater edge are covered walkways in delicate seeming wrought metals, covered with translucent solar panels to collect the suns rays.

Commtower

Reaching up over the blocky and utilitarian sensor towers and turrets is the reconditioned Communication and Command Tower. While the internal structure remains the same, the outside has been given a facelift to bring it in line with the cities architecture from the past. Arches rise up around it, blending into supports for tiered balconies. Gutters are visible now, with fanciful downspouts formed it the shapes of Cybertronian fauna, both real, living, extinct and whimsical. And where once was the large Decepticon Emblem glowering over the city lost to apathy, are now smaller roundels with the same emblem blending into the tops of the support arches.

Amphiteater

Built into a natural rise of Cybertrons crust, this ancient structure has been cleaned and strengthened. The signs of ages past have not been removed but left on display for those visiting. The stage itself is set on the sea's edge. On occasion when storms pass, the area rings with the sounds of the sea, echoing softly throughout the city now that it has been restored.

History

Coming online sometime before the war began, Thunderblast was forged with an aquatic alt mode. And a highly primed set of vocal circuits that could hit the mezzo-soprano and soprano range with barely any effort. Thunderblast came online wanting to be a performer. To make it big. But as this turn came about Cybertron was hit by the grumblings and disruptions that would be the first stirrings of the war. Performing anywhere in the city she could get a stage, and developing a persona to get those extra 'oomphs' she would do any-job any-where. But she also managed to hit some of those highly irritable types over in the city-state..

As the war went on, there was little left to conquer. And eventually the Decepticon heel strut would come to Ultrix. Conscripted into the militia, Thunderblast's alt mode would be rapidly hardened for war and the femme being equipped with heavier weapons than a normal hoverboat would. Ultrix fought heavily. Outgunned, with no heavy weaponry or defenses, the city fell after a series of rough battles marked by heavy resistance. Impressed, the Decepticon general spearheading the assault offered the city a chance to surrender in return for the militia swearing fealty to the Decepticons and for the city to be occupied, and not sacked.

Most of the survivors took the offer. Others fled Cybertron. A bare few joined the resistance. Others scattered to other city state. Ultrix was left an empty shell. A harbor hub on a planet under an energon crisis and barely any sort of water operations, the diaspora from the city having obliterated it's unique culture, and nothing there worth maintaining left the city as virtually abandoned, despite its nominal sense of being under Decepticon occupation.
