MacDill Air Force Base (AFB) (IATA: MCF, ICAO: KMCF, FAA LID: MCF) is an active United States Air Force base located approximately 6.4 km (4 miles) south-southwest of downtown Tampa, Florida. The "host wing" for MacDill AFB is the 6th Air Mobility Wing (6 AMW) of the Air Mobility Command (AMC), part of AMC's Eighteenth Air Force (18 AF).
The 6 AMW is commanded by Colonel April Vogel and the wing's Command Chief Master Sergeant is CMSgt Melanie Noel.
History[]
The MacDill Air Force Base was almost completely destroyed during the Great Flood of 2011. It has since been rebuilt. With the destruction of the Flagg, Coldshot and Cutter have been re-assigned to the MacDill Air Force Base.
