LUMINOUS claims to be designed and sent by Primus Himself. LUMINOUS' only purpose is to bring the Light of Primus to Cybertron and Earth by any means necessary. Her power source is one of revolutionary, yet simplistic design. Her internal reactors operate on a neutrino absorption system that as yet remains a mystery. The result is an abundance of energy drawn from a nearly limitless source of raw power, offensively employed in the form of intensely focused patterns of light. The technology to harness this power has long since been lost, but Primus took steps to ensure that His creation would not easily lose this power. Her core is capable of autonomous functioning, albeit on a very basic level. It can, however, build an entirely new body out of the simplest of components.

Luminous was unearthed on Cybertron accidentally, and clashed with both Optimus Prime and Megatron soon after her reactivation. Beaten by their combined power, Luminous changed tactics, trying to recruit followers on Earth. She eventually pressing captured BATs and humans into service as her Priests of Primus. She build a large base into which she integrated BATs and humans as computing nodes and living armor. She was ultimately defeated by a combined Autobot/human assault, and her captives freed. Luminous herself escaped and fled, and has not been seen again since.
In 2014 Luminous's captured armor was destroyed by the Autobots to keep it from falling into the hands of the Decepticons.

When Luminous first awoke, she was bent on killing all heretics. At this time she was played by Dean.
After her initial defeat, she changed tactics, trying to recruit human and android Priests of Primus in an effort to turn Earth into New Cybertron. During this time she was played by Bzero.
