Glyph is an Autobot archaeometrist.
Erudition is the privilege of those who observe detail.
Glyph

Nerdette!

One of the brightest minds of Cybertron, Glyph is an expert in data decryption, languages, and forensic science. She has a highly exacting eye for even the minutest detail, and, as an archaeometrist, a near-insatiable desire to learn more about alien cultures, current and past. To her, being stranded on an alien planet among its people would be a boon, not a curse. She has a tendency to come across as bit stuffy, but she seems sociable enough.

She possesses little to nothing in the way of combat abilities, however, and as such is usually accompanied by her "bodyguard" Tap-Out or other more battle-oriented Autobots. Her vehicle mode also has trouble handling the rough terrain she usually finds herself in when on a research mission.

Jul 19 - Initial Guardian Data Effort[]

<< Spinny Autobot Symbol fades to show Glyph in the restricted area of the Hall of Record >>

"I began the initial examination of the Guardian data that was received with the aid of Flutter Steel. The initial protection was... both older and more complex then I expected. We got some initial images from the data but the security in it reacted and started a complete erasure of what information was on the device but I manage to put a lockdown on it and froze it in it's response."
She reaches up and rubs her temple a bit before she continues, "I have currently hardlocked the information under a top-grade lockdown. Currently only Optimus Prime and Elita One can unlock it... and Skyfire as well. I am going to send out a handful of assignments to our specialists to try and get a more prepared effort to unlock what we have to do our best to recover it in a intact format." She reaches out to tap off the recorder but pauses, "And it is fully my responsibility for the initial failure on this project and I will correct it as soon as we safely can." With that she taps off the recorder.

Feb 03 - Dweller Downed[]

<< Standard Autobot spinning symbol as the report starts, with Command along the bottom edge to show it's for Command Only >>

Glyph is seen sitting in one of the medbeds in Iacon Medical as a medic works on her forearms, both of which look utterly slagged. After a moment of saying something to the medic who moves back out of view she looks up, "Will keep it simple.. after a request for aid from the Constructicon leader Scrapper we joined a group from the Decepticons in a somewhat quickly put together operation to deal with the being we call the Dweller. Initial contact happened fairly quickly, with the creature ripping apart a ship... and if what I saw was correct he had 'converted' the crew of it in a fashion close to what would of happened if we had not implemented the anti-virus we did. Tried to recover a sample but as far as am aware we were not able to."

She seems lost in thought for a bit before she continues, "It ripped the ship open like it was one of those surprise-crackers I have seen on Earth. Backblast and Sideswipe both worked in conjunction with the 'Cons to keep the infected away before all sides at the same time focused fired on the creature and brought down a unexpected shielding of some-kind.. worked like a force field but not /quite/. Still, it managed to shrug off most of the damage almost instantly.. at least till the special missiles the Cons were using finally hit." She lifts her arms up to show off the badly damaged forearms, "They needed a bit of assistance to get through the defenses but... yes, a large part of the success was the virus they used, it seemed to turn its healing against it. End result, it died a rather deserved and gruesome death."

A shake of her head, "I am not... entirely.. sure of what happened soon afterwards other then Scrapper ordering us returned safely. Unless overridden, I suggest the Space Bridge be kept down till I can finish running a series of test on it this evening to be safe but I believe it should be safe but with how deadly it proved I believe safety and being /sure/ before we fully reopen access to it. Anyways.. that is roughly what happened, all saved data and records are attached to this report, Glyph signing out for now to finish repairs... as well as Dust Devil who suffered non-fatal but solid feedback from keeping the ship's shields adapting to a draining effect it was suffering.."

Just before the symbol pops back up she sighs again, "Stupid fragger deserves a reward for his efforts above and beyond. Glyph, out." Again muttering is heard as the Autobot symbol spins back to life, "Fragging just made these.. Supply isn't going to be happy with my new requests.."

Feb 09 - Space Bridge Adjustments[]

Standard Autobot Spinning Symbol reverts to show Glyph in her lab, a /great/ variety of experiments going on all around it. The screen focuses quickly on the Femme as she flicks a few more holo-screens that seem to contain some basic Space Bridge scans. She pauses briefly as if refocusing her mind before she speaks, "I'll make this simple. I've taken the last few days and with the cooperation of Metroplex and his Cityspeaker Windblade, I have ran a great deal of tests, along multiple levels and approaches and have found no influence of the Dweller there nor any other threats. Every test has come back and matches long-term readings from past cycles, so unless Orion or Ariel speaks up, I am declaring Bridges open access, though will warn all travel will be more closely watched for the near future to ensure nothing flares up again." She taps a brief command and that recording ends with the spinning Autobot Symbol.

On the Command level there will be a follow-up report that contains all the testing she did as well as various security measures added in to help try to avoid future influences or difficulties.

Notes[]

  • The decision to make Glyph a Female Transformer came soon after her toy design was decided. Originally, the character was a written as a "male" Transformer named Archaix, a name which the character's creator, Rob Gerbracht, would later use as an inspiration for the planet Archa IX.
  • Glyph has appeared three times, each in a different (but distinct) variant of the original cartoon continuity. This makes this page annoyingly organized.
