"Oh Drift-chan, you smell awesome, and not at all like feet!"

Drift was not always an Autobot. In fact, he slaughtered quite a few when he was known as the Decepticon Deadlock. But Deadlock's eyes were opened to what the Transformers' war had become when he stumbled across a lost faction of neutral Transformers long since forgotten. He discarded his ruthless ways, abandoned his guns for swords, and changed his name and appearance.

When Drift returned to the Transformer war to make right what he put wrong, he was a bot of few words and disciplined action. Drift isn't well-liked or trusted by a few of the Autobots and some of the Decepticons think he's just lying about having changed. This hits Drift more than you might think because at the end of the day, despite his loner attitude, Drift really just wants to be part of something.

In addition to the two swords kept in his hip scabbards, Drift carries a legendary Great Sword. An ancient weapon that predates modern civilization, the Great Sword draws upon the spark energy of its bearer, and as such must only be used in the most dire of circumstances.

We're going about this the wrong way, all of us! After countless centuries of fighting ... the Autobots are a step away from what we were when all this started. And us — the Decepticons have become something worse than any of us could have imagined.

—Drift explains his new perception of the war to his former commander, "Spotlight: Drift"

History[]

Pre-MUX History[]

Drift is forged and from Rodion.

Drift was originally a homeless Cybertronian, living on the streets and stealing energon to survive. The hopeless 'bot was befriended by Gasket but otherwise had no one. During one drug trip in the Dead End, he was assaulted by Sonic and Boom, who were abducting homeless people for money. Drift was rescued by Orion Pax, who brought him to Ratchet's clinic in Rodion. Ratchet saved Drift's life, and told the young robot that he could achieve great things in his life if he tried — he could just tell Drift was destined for something special.

Drift would soon learn what that was, after Gasket was killed by Autobot law enforcement after trying to stop them from executing a thief. Drift exploded with rage, grabbed the nearest gun and killed them all. His knack for violence attracted the attention of the Cybertronian underground, who trained Drift as a killer. Amongst this group, Drift realized the level of corruption in the Senate, and a recruitment rally held by Megatron drew Drift in with his talk of equality. Megatron singled Drift out of the crowd, claiming to have heard great things of him, and asked him to join the Decepticons to fight for a better Cybertron. Drift agreed and, after being was hailed by the crowd, was renamed Deadlock by Megatron.

Dec 10 - Not I[]

A white-armored warrior with a crested helm and a windshield chest looks up into the camera. In a soft voice, he reports, "I am called Drift. I do not know whom you brought back from the prison ship, but it was not I. I have been meditating and training in Rodion since my recruitment into the Autobots. It is here that I shall remain until summoned by command. I wish you well in your search for my imposter. Thank you." The short transmission ends.

Sep 25 - Dear Command I messed up[]

Drift's face pops onto the screen, wearing a perplexed, confused, and concerned expression.
Dear Command,
Today I fragged up. I meant to just check on how Ratchet was doing over in Fortress Maximus. But Soundwave was there. And awake. So we started talkin'. Well. Ok, I was pokin' at him verbally. I don't -trust him-. Nobody should trust anything that falls out of his vocoder. Really. I mean. -Big sigh, looking down at his hands a moment- I tried t' bluff him on something important an' I think it royally backfired. In a major, factional impacting, global sort of way really. Or not. See, he uses people. He always has used people. Somehow he cozies up to folks and despite everything, folks believe that this is the time, this is the moment where he's sincere, for once in his functioning. An' it usually ends in at best tears, at worst, death. I thought it was the same thing and tried t' call him out on it.
Boy, was I wrong. Unless he's playing a really nasty, really long game again. He might be but.. I mean who -conjuxes- someone as part of a nasty plan. So.. long story short. Or shorter story medium, it's my fault that Rung will be filing an official conjux endura form for Soundwave and Veritas Prime. There were multiple witnesses in Fort's med bay last cycle, Me, Rung, Dust Devil, and Starlock. I.. don't know what this means for keepin' him locked down or what the political fallout's gonna be.

But it's my fault that the new Prime's officially, per our standards an' apparently theirs, conjuxed to a blackmailing, backstabbin', telepathic nasty, at core always and forever a Decepticon. I can't believe he'd make that sort of deep change, I just can't. I'll be in Rodion if needed, back and forth to Fort to check in on Ratchet and await any disciplinary assignments as deemed appropriate for my political boo-boo.

Drift Out.
