Summary: Alpha Trion calls a meeting of the Autobots.
As logged by Alpha Trion - Monday, September 11, 2023, 7:42 PM
Meeting Room - Celestial Spires - Iacon[]
- This large meeting area, located on the 222nd floor of one of the Celestial Spires, has a magnificent view of the inside of the Great Dome via massive, reinforced polymer-glass windows that line three walls of the big room. There is a sizable table for formal discussions, as well as several comfortable chairs and couches for more informal get-togethers.
Alpha Trion stands with his back to the chamber, staring out one of the large windows overlooking the interior of the Great Dome. Many Autobots have already gathered in the enormous meeting room -- leaders like Crosscut, Ultra Magnus, and Wheeljack, as well as specialists called in for their expertise, such as Signal Flare. The officers stand in a small knot, talking quietly among themselves, while the enlisted Bots are more spread out, sitting comfortably on the chairs and couches.
Backblast is... here, not that he can be seen right now.
First Aid enters the meeting room, taking his place towards the back. He isn't command or anything, but he feels like he should be there in case he is needed.
The arrival of Pile-Up to Iacon heralded a... giant severed head being left outside of the Celestial Spires. Marked with several 'Property of Pile-Up' and several Junkion sigil posters - to make sure that the claimant of this salvage is known. A guardian head - of unknown origin, with casters tack-welded to it to let it be pulled along as it had been into Autobot territory.
The ancient himself had relegated himself near the outskirts of the meeting area, entering quietly among the others gathering - hands folded behind his back, the right appendage looking somewhat newer. Newer, but also looking like it might have formally been a decepticon's - if not someone else's; this Junk's proclivity for wandering old battlefields for 'scrap' a well-known thing.
Asymmetrics is here for the purposes of coordination and logistics purposes. She's expecting it to be mostly a discussion of small unit tactics and assignment of squads. It's horribly out of character for the Autobots to make a unified defense plan, but one can hope. Her intents are to make an argument given the circumstances for large scale withdraws of personnel from Earth to reinforce Cybertron. She's let this be known in advance.
Chromia is moving around in the background, doing what she does best and try to keep things organized before the meeting starts officially, while Springer stays near the doors... with a few Wreckers outside, all being drafted for extra security for their many sins.
Arcee sits quietly, glancing around at the beauty of this meeting room she had no idea even existed until very recently.
Grimlock enters quietly, or at least as quietly as one of his stature can. No words, just rhythmic stomping as he strides into the meeting room, positions himself against a wall and folds his arms. Then stares. He's probably judging everyone present, or maybe he's just being polite. Miracles happen. Sometimes.
Backblast is here. The smell of his cheap cobalt-lithium hand-rolled enercigs tells that much. But he can't be seen right now.
Stormwind sits as quietly as she can, trying to see if she can get updates on tropical systems from Earth at least while she's here, for when she gets back home.
The massive form of Sky Lynx moves into the meeting room, tucking his wings in against his frame. He looks around at the others in attendance and then settles into a place made especially for oversized frames like himself. "Good cycle, I bid you all welcome, and rejoice, for I, Sky Lynx, have decided to input my forward thinking and humble opinions into this meeting."
Dust Devil is still limping a touch from a recent bit of fun while on courier duty. He carries some boxes which he leaves with those in charge of the meeting, grabbing only two datapads out for himself as he looks to find a place to sit. Preferably near Backb.... who is nowhere to be seen.
Alpha Trion will probably have important talking bits to do and well, squeaking his way to one of the corners seems like a great way to be out of sight, out of mind and best able to possibly play minesweeper or something. Dust Devil#Tracker pads at his feet and does a soft wuff before steering them more to one corner. He leaves the other datapad on the seating near him.
He's not seen grabbing it, but the datapad Dusty left for Backblast disappears when nobody's looking.
Foot tapping, slowly turning at his position to let his optics scan from one face to the next, Pile-Up takes a moment when the Dinobot King nears to call out, "Let the Midnight Special shine an ever-loving light on me!" waving his hand. "Hielt man f r Ufos aus dem All, Nur 99 Luftballons." nodding sagely before he digs a small container box from a storage panel in his side.
Quieted again, clicking out an energon goodie for himself, the Junkion scans the room again, all the while wondering after the security of The Big Giant Head.
Alpha Trion turns from the window, standing in just the right place that the light of Cybertron's new red sun lights him dramatically through the roof of the Dome overhead. He smiles, looking around the packed room, a pleased glint in his bright blue optics. For those who haven't seen him since his latest rebuilt, he appears much bulkier, tougher, and better armored -- more of a war leader and less of an ancient sage.
"I'll bet you are all wondering why I brought you all here," Trion starts to say, and then holds up a large black hand to stop himself. "Sorry. Too much time spent with Junkions when I was on Earth. What I mean to say is, thank you, Ultra Magnus, for bringing us all together. It has been too long since we've met to discuss strategy and the Autobots' overall vision for the immediate future."
From his seat at the table, Ultra Magnus nods stiffly in acknowledgement of the compliment.
Alpha Trion continues. "We have many things to discuss, but the foremost priorities are what to do about the threat of Liege Maximo, how to handle Autobot leadership without the Matrix, and how closely we should work with the Decepticons against the Cybertronian Empire." He turns to Chromia. "Infantry Commander. What is the state of our cities' current defenses?"
Chromia moves to the front of the room, moving to a spot where she can watch over the crowds but when she gets addressed her focus moves to Alpha Trion, "Currently most are at full operational strength ... though we are working to improve them when possible. I have been rotating which units are wear at different rates so it will be harder for anyone to truly know who is where except for High Command."
Springer moves finally to the door into the Meeting Room and crosses his arms and settles in to listen with other Wreckers stopping on the outside to prevent/curtail anyone entering as well.
First Aid nods "Speaking from medical, I think that curing the sleeping sickness should take priority. Especially if it is caused by Liege Maximo, as suspected. We are getting closer, but I know everyone here wants their friends back and helping in this."
Springer snorts, his voice clearly carrying, "Yeah ... I vote for working on that. I want my Sleeping Beauty back already."
Asymmetrics would go to pipe up after a moment, "We have personnel that are stationed on numerous smaller outposts and stations which are vulnerable. To strikes or to raids where they could be overwhelmed. These outposts are generally low priority or garrison and shipping locales. Most of them can be temporarily decommissioned and forces withdrawn. This gives us more supplies and assets which can be used to reinforce our positions here, as well as the benefit of withdrawn heavy equipment. It also means that those outposts are not vulnerable to being picked off or blockaded."
Asymmetrics would continue, "Given the probability that the Decepticons will be mustering their forces here to engage the Liege Maximo or deploying to deep space in pursuit, most of these smaller outposts consist of locales designed to deter and monitor Decepticon activity.
"Those not deemed a priority for continued operations, defense, production, and intelligence have no need to remain online until the crisis has passed. We need to bring recall as many troops to Cybertron as possible. This also includes Earth. Earth has two majorly fortified bases, Ocean City and Autobot City, as well as numerous smaller bases, such as the Ironworks and the Ark. Given the lack of presence of Decepticon strike groups and the EDC, most of our forces could be safely withdrawn in the short term while Earth continues to primarily function as a supply hub." Spoke the self-called pragmatic one that was a rare enough trained officer from the Second War era.
Dust Devil is typing away on his datapad, but he makes sure to look up now and then and make sure he at least appears to be paying attention.
Tracker is laying at his feet and only lifts it to look at Dust Devil.
Dust, interrupted by his thoughts for a moment, looks where there was a datapad next to him and just shakes his head. Refocusing on the actual meeting he dares to speak up, "Speakin' of outposts, the fastest of us are running relay both with information and supplies while those with more bulk are working supply trains for better defense. Some of us are experiencing attacks that we can't attribute ta the Decepticons and anyone movin' alone should be tellin' command or someone where they're headin' so we know if anyone is waylaid."
Arriving a bit later than he was supposed to, Nate Briar slips in and is in his full EDC flight suit. He finds a spot where he can stand up on to listen and try to be comfortable. Being that virtually everything is out of scale for him, he tries to figure out something that can work. He pulls out his datapad to make some notes.
Many would have thought that Nightbeat would have been the one to show up for this, but Flatfoot -- after having been sent to try and get him -- came back empty-handed, reporting that there had been plenty of yelling through the door involved.
But who is the surprise is Punch, sitting in on the meeting; that certainly doesn't happen very often, it seems, since he's usually buried in the depths of Iacon's archives. He glances up after a moment, gaze surveying the room for a moment and a slight frown creasing his features before he raises his hand.
"I'm hearing some interesting things from the Empire, truth be told. They might be willing to cooperate, but they have every intention of using the Autobots and Neutrals alike as front-line cannon fodder." A brief pause. "Oh, and apparently they made Cyclonus acting second-in-command and Counterpunch is Intel's new CO."
Backblast murmurs "Should've sent me." from somewhere in the room at Flatfoot's report.
Grimlock spares Pile-Up a glance and then focuses, listening to updates and processing. Given a pause in the proceedings, he decides to finally pipe up. If his presence had somehow gone unnoticed, he's bound to be seen now.
"Grimlock doing what Grimlock always do." He does not elaborate further.
Working with the Decepticons regarding Liege Maximo - something else to finally force cooperation - though it earns a muttered, "I'll buy that for a dollar." sniffing slightly and listening to the others voicing their concerns. Hands shifting from behind to now be held in front of the ancient, head turning this way and that while people speak.
Only to come forward, "He-Man, we've found our way to Tra-la and are claiming it for England... and we're backing it up with this gun, lent to me by the... nnnational rifle association." turning slightly to the side, "Thank you, grand-dad" and then pulling out a small displayer module to show the general regions near Tesarus. "With New Junkion Engineering - the Playdoh Fun-Factory can bring a world of imagination to your living room. But with a little help, from our friends, we can make sure that Energizer Batteries keep going and going." pointing to the display.
"We can revive, with Vivarin." Pile-Up motions towards First Aid and Springer, "And with support from Viewers Like You, Wallace Corporation can provide means - while Centurions! Form Testudo." one hand sweeping around, specifically, to the Autobots.
Jazz enters the room with a steaming hot mug of enertea, it smells ener herbal. He calmly surveys the room and says simply, "What up mechs?" It's colloquial. He already knows the answer. He sets his tea down on the table and sits. A large notepad flashes out of subspace into his hand. He crosses his legs and begins to take notes.
Backblast unwraps his cloak and drops down from the ceiling. "Cybertron's wilds continue to recover slowly. This year's Altihex Storm wasn't windy, so the fliers didn't come out to play, but it dumped so much water that there are parts of the desert still underwater. There are... wild Insecticons, some kind of combiner, living under Ibex... currently trying to find out whether it's sapient or not, apparently it's one of Sounders' creations but mentioning his name REALLY annoys them. Someone from Cobra has been entered into Revenge Pending for abducting one of them and, presumably, taking it to Earth."
Alpha Trion's smile broadens and he nods to Chromia -- as expected, she's on it. He glances at Springer when the Wrecker moves further into the room and the look on Trion's face suggests he has something to say to the Triple Changer when he gets a chance. However, when First Aid speaks, Trion turns to the good doctor to focus on what he has to say. Trion nods, stroking his white beard. "What are the current prospects on a cure?" he asks Doctor Aid. "Do you require more resources?"
When Asymmetrics speaks, Trion turns his attention to her. "We don't want to allow the Cybertronian Empire to use those bases against us -- or the Decepticons, for that matter. Should we have Jazz rig them to detonate if invaded or tampered with? With proper warning to the locals, of course," he smiles wryly. He glances back at Dust Devil. "Good point. We definitely need better communications between our various forces."
Trion glances at Grimlock, but then swivels his head around as Punch speaks. His frown indicates he has NO idea who Punch is, but nods at the analyst's data. "Sounds about right. So, while we may have to work with the Decepticons again, we'll have to prepare for their sudden but inevitable betrayal." He turns back to Grimlock.
"Yes, Grimlock, and believe it or not, it's appreciated. Your little 'rebellion' gives us plausible deniability -- we can try to work with the Decepticons against Liege Maximo, while you continue to hit them and make sure they don't take advantage of any ceasefire to grab land and power." Alpha Trion looks around the room.
"Anyone who wants to join Grimlock's strike force is welcome to do with NO negative repercussions to their career with the Autobots. You can even say mean things about me publicly and I'll pretend it's just cover," he chuckles.
Alpha Trion's gaze turns to Stormwind with a glance at Springer. "Starlock's records indicate Typhoon has woken from her long sleep." He looks at First Aid. "If you wish to take any additional scans, do so soon, because I want the entire team back on Earth dealing with the damage the humans insist on doing to their only planet. Apparently, they can't learn from our bad example -- they'll have to destroy their own world before they'll learn."
Glancing at Ultra Magnus, Trion continues, "Magnus, you are to return to Earth as well. Work with Windblade to prepare Metroplex to defend Earth if the Hub attacks there again -- they've targeted it before. While you focus on Autobot City, I've instructed Metalhawk to with the Faireborns about the rest of Earth's defenses.
Trion frowns when Pile-Up speaks, and it takes a moment for him to try to translate his words from Earth's still largely unfamiliar culture. Finally, Trion just says, "You Junkions are amazing at both fighting and repairs. We could use your help in both regards. Work with Dust Devil and Jazz to find out where you are needed most."
And, speak of the devil, and who should appear but Jazz. Trion smiles in his direction. "Your, uh, analyst," Trion says, clearly not remembering Punch's name, "gave us some new information, but we're going to need more information about both what the Decepticons are planning, and Liege Maximo himself. Many of the Decepticons are getting friendly with some of our more open-minded Autobots. Place more agents in New Harmonex and other areas and see what you can find out about our long-term enemies." He turns to Springer. "How do your Wreckers feel about a suicide mission to the Hub?"
Alpha Trion glances at Backblast as he beats Trion for dramatic entrances. "Cybertron's revival is both a blessing and a curse. Besides new wildlife, we also must secure any new hot spots from Decepticon or Hub control. We don't want Megatron making more Made to Order soldiers. Especially since we know he plans to betray us, and we don't know how much influence Liege Maximo has over him still."
Chromia pulls out a datapad and opens it to recheck some information ... but she pauses and glares at Springer for a second after his comment before she speaks up again, "The patrols have been getting regularly changed for the same reason as the garrisons, to keep it unclear who is where to make any planned attacks more difficult for the enemy. A pair of fast reaction forces are ready in locations prime to react to any attacks on the less defended locations, as was mentioned we do not wish to spread ourselves out anymore then possible... and we have the Wreckers who seem to react to any attacks they can just to find a few more fights."
Again, from his place near the door the green machine shrugs his shoulders and putting his hands in the air, "Hey, we just want to help where we can." And utterly fails to keep the smirk off his face.
Chromia sighs, "Unfortunately there are too many locations we /have/ to defend for purely optical reasons ... we have obligations we simply cannot avoid." Her opticridge ticks a bit at the last of AT's comments, "And I have reports that Shockwave has ... disappeared almost entirely. Last time he did this for an extended time ... he came back with a personal warship."
First Aid tilts his head "That's what I'd like to know as well." he says "Last I heard, Chromedome and Starlock had some new information given to them from Ghost... Veritas Prime, but I'm not sure what it will take to implement it. I was hoping someone else may have more information on the sleeping sickness. And if you need medical support on any missions against the Hub, I am always ready to provide support."
Asymmetrics would give a nod to Alpha Trion, "Decommissioning and withdraw from as many low priority locations as possible seems useful. Or from those locations with significant enough defenses for us to not have to worry int he short term on maintaining a presence. The Decepticons will let us take the front line of battle with the Cybertronian Empire." She would give a nod in the direction of the Autobot that had stated that.
"We can work with that by just noting the Decepticon surrendering of the glory and initiative, and that are they really afraid that much and unsure of their own power? That they think we're superior to them? That will cause issues with the rank and file and play to Megatron's arrogance. His tolerance will be low, and he won't restrain himself for long." At the mention of Counterpunch being Intelligence Head and Cyclonus promoted to Air Commander, she goes to review Counterpunch's file.
"He's a data pusher. He will possibly remain in an administrative role for now. His exact capabilities are unknown." So more behind the scenes, but hopefully less efficient than Floodlight. "Cyclonus is loyal but also not creative. He'll fulfill orders as literally as Shockwave.
"His ability for tactical improvisation is limited, as well as administrative. He's a combat leader, not a high-ranking officer. He'll spend most of his time on the front lines and neglect his responsibilities, or he'll be out of his element and undermine the Decepticon organization."
Dust Devil looks over, "Besides the communication issues, there has been activity underground. A new building has emerged from this massive complex that me and a few others have investigated. I'm not sure if it's building a titan... or what it's doing but there's been assorted factions interested in the whole thing. Lots of old stuff within besides whatever it seems ta be building. Ya also got that interrogator guy on Earth who would like ta see about some supply trading in case we bots need ta use Earth as a refuge from Liege Maximo.
"I'm on the fence on full trust with this guy... but he does have points. We've also got unaffiliated poachers tryin' ta raid our new resources and sell them offworld. This continued pillaging will draw more attention ta where it won't be just liege Maximo we'll be needin ta fear. Learnin ta work with the Cons might be the only way ta really protect our world now. Both sides did too good a job at lessening our populations if ya get my drift."
Backblast sniffs "I don't trust Interrogator." He says. "I think he's up to something."
Jazz catches Punch's information then listens to Chromia and simply says, "Punch, find out where Shockwave went." Easy, next issue, "We are going to rig some buildings to blow? Cool. I haven't finished all the Intel reports yet but Grimlock, where are the rest of the dinomechs?"
"Counterpunch is a textbook example of the Terran Peter principle," Punch notes. "Rumor has it he's the one who nominated Cyclonus to be XO. I don't expect it will last very long." He looks over at Jazz. "He was still on Cybertron as of a week ago, but I'll look into it."
There's a few pauses from Nate as he seems to be doing his communication back to the Joes. He looks around and keeps a serious look. He doesn't like Cybertonians fully so this has him feeling a little at an unease. He looks around and finally speaks, "I'm from the EDC as you know. Just curious, when can we expect to be able make an advance on removing the Decepticons from Earth?"
Backblast looks to Nate "Probably when Legio Twattimo is dealt with." He says. "Not my call, but... I'd post him as a bigger threat, both to your planet and to Cybertron."
Grimlock tilts his head as Alpha Trion speaks, then chuckles. "Me Grimlock like you," he rumbles simply, "Any want in, you come join Grimlock." He leaves it at that. He didn't come here to recruit for his 'venture', after all. He perks up at the mention of Shockwave and sneers, "If Grimlock spot Shockwave in field, me make sure Autobots know."
Grimlock resumes his silence briefly until Jazz addresses him directly. He moves slightly from the wall so that he can turn to look down at where he sits. "Dinobots go where Grimlock tell them," he says, as if that explains everything, "Why?"
A small grunt from Pile-Up at Trion's comment of finding 'where he can help', looking to the display he has out and then back to Trion. A shoulder lifts, slightly and the Junkion's face twists for a beat. "Napa Know-How. We cannot stay heeere, we need to go to Mana-Hatta-a-aa-an..." looking to the entry he has on display and the hallways the recording mapping has on display.
"Johnson and Johnson, an S-C Johnson/Wax company in association with WGBH Boston bring you This Old House, with Bob Vila." jaw working side to side "Send Fix-It Felix, once New Improved Junkion Megafactory is running, we can Combat Liege Maximo, Overthrow The Ayatollah! Combat the strongest odors!" shifting his weight to one leg and turning off the display system, tucking it away, "Our lines are open, and our operators are waiting to take your call so that you can make your donation, to fight MS and keep Jerry's hair black."
Backblast looks at Pile Up and stays quiet. "We have made progress on catching the poachers. But now it's just the waiting game... Steelclaw, the vet, was working for the poachers. Now he works for me. Please don't leak this. I will be... displeased."
Alpha Trion frowns, agreeing with Chromia's assessment that when Shockwave is too quiet, it usually means bad things are afoot. "We can only hope that Shockwave is making the logical choice to defend Cybertron against Liege Maximo if he hopes to one day rule it, but we can never be sure when his recommendations are going to be overturned by the new jacked-up Megatron," says the newly armored Alpha Trion, calling the kettle black.
Trion nods to First Aid, and then glances at Springer. "Do you still have Fixit assigned to you once Starlock ended her tenure with the Wreckers? Or do you need a new field medic?" He turns back to Doctor Aid. "Find out what you can from Chromedome and Starlock," he adds. He turns to listen to Asymmetrics, and nods in appreciation of her analysis of the new Decepticon commanders' strengths and weaknesses.
Trion then Dust Devil. "Cobra can't be trusted any further than the Decepticons. They will help us out of their own self-interest -- as they have before against the Decepticons -- but they will also use everything they learn about us during an alliance against us once the mutual threat is over. Right now, we need any allies we can get, but remember -- these are alliances of convenience, only. Reveal as little to them as possible."
Trion turns to Jazz. "We might want to boobytrap any distant stations or areas from which pull back so that if they are taken by our enemies, they will encounter a cruel surprise." Trion's optics narrow grimly. He lets Grimlock answer any questions about the Dinobots and any other members of his new -- ugh -- 'Lightning Strike Coalition.'
When Nate speaks, Trion looks almost relieved. "That depends on the EDC's position," he replies to the human. "Do you trust the Decepticons to help defend Earth against the Cybertronian Empire, or should we declare Earth off-limits to them as part of the alliance agreement, and escort them off the planet with extreme prejudice should they disagree?" He glances and nods at Backblast's counterpoint.
Trion nods slowly at Pile-Up's... offer? "Uh, thank you, Junkion," he replies, glancing to Dust Devil and Jazz as if hoping for a translation later.
Chromia simply nods towards AT after his comment on Shox's quietness before looking to Jazz, "Do we have any new information on what the Constructions are doing in Crystal City? If it had anything to do with a chunk of it blowing up?"
Springer now: "We go. Never leave home without one." He half-turns as a Wrecker peeks in and whispers something to Springer who then sighs, "No... no we are not going to be having any refreshment delivered. This is an official meeting!" A pause and he whispers back, "Get me a few of those new energbrews from Val.." He pauses and coughs before straightening back up and taps the door controls to close the doors on the other Wrecker and attempts to look innocent.
First Aid answers "Fixit is still working with us. I'll check in with Chromedome and Starlock when they are available." he says "Has anyone tried to contact Megatron? I want to make sure Decepticon hostilities are not something to worry about atop the Liege Maximo and Crystal City incidents."
Backblast chuckles, "I could hack their comms if you like, and give him a buzz."
Asymmetrics would look to Alpha Trion, "An alliance with the Decepticons will be purely one of convenience and they'll backstab us the moment it's available. There's a moderate probability they would do so at a critical juncture on the planetary defense purely as Megatron's anger gets the most of him.
"Even going into it with this understanding has a high probability of danger. I believe that active co-belligerency is acceptable, but an outright alliance... Look at how the negotiations for the ceasefire went on. The Decepticons, much less Megatron are not reasonable partners. Even if one goes by the adage of 'keep your enemies close', the amount of effort we would have to put into watching them for when they attack us will heavily undermine our effectiveness. "I would advise strongly against formal cooperation beyond information sharing or some degree of coordination to avoid outright battle in the face of invasion."
Asymmetrics would glance to Jazz, "Shockwave is ultimately an irrelevancy. His focus is purely on his research. IF left to it and given his own territory, he will likely remain non-belligerent for the continuing timespan. Or logically see the Liege as a threat that he should focus his research against, or at least that is disruptive to it. Assets sent pursuing him are ones that can be utilized elsewhere. His logic makes him ultimately predictable when it comes to operational status."
At the talking of Springer and some of the others, Asymmetrics goes to give him a strong glare that goes quiet. It won't accomplish anything, and she'll be ignored. She looks over at Chromia with a 'maintain decorum' expression before it would slide away.
"And on the position of leadership..." The empty Matrix in the room does need addressed.
Even though they aren't at that part of the meeting yet. "As an active military theocracy... While the Matrix is a source of moral authority, the fact that we are undermined by the absence of an active wielder of it is a testament to its inefficiency. A complete shift to a fully militarized or civilian command structure is necessary. We cannot operate on the vagaries of the available presence of it or not.
"The Matrix wielder should be a source of military and if necessarily religious authority. But it undermines the purpose of a coherent military structure for whatever entity that possesses it to be considered leader of the Commonwealth or its absence an indicator of a destabilized command structure. For the sake of continuity, we need a fully formalized leadership structure and a transition away from the priority being the wielder of it."
Jazz responds, "No resources spent looking for Shockwave. We have a guy on the inside and infantry wants to know where he is. That's my job mechs," then to Chromia. "I'll check sources to see the correlation to the constructs and explosions," and finally to Grimlock.
"Chromia here is looking for deterrence against attacks. One Dinobot on random patrols would help... maybe even two!" Jazz winks. Then back to the not prime, "That's easy Trion we can set them to blow remotely. If whomever is there has to pull out, they pull the trigger. "
Dust Devil is eying his data pad and frowns, "Even Interrogator knows about that thing awakening and building it seems. And yeah, I know not ta trust Cobra, the cons and such. But There is a point ta listenin ta them and findin out stuff too. There were some mechs and femmes kidnapping the neutrals... and it almost sounds like they were usin their bodies if I understood what she was sayin correctly. I was suspectin those might be from Liege's group considerin we've not had anythin like that." He frowns at his datapad again, "I think we're purposely bein pulled in so many directions. Pulled, pushed, whatever it takes ta make the most division.
"It would make it so much easier ta take us out. Especially with so many of our medics and scientists down. I'd be worried that we're gonna come up against some issues as we close in on solvin that issue or right after. It'd make the most sense since we'd be off guard or weaker." Dust Devil frowns about the matrix issue.
"What happened recently with the matrix and it's bearers really wasn't somethin that was expected ta happen. Lots of mistakes were made. I'd be careful about making rules in Titanium about the future of leadership. Or yer gonna end up where they try to only pass the matrix to military leaders or those chosen by the few. I still think that Veritas has an important role ta play in the future. She's a wildcard that Liege Maximo ain't had ta deal with."
"Megatron's anger gets the better of him on a routine basis," Punch says. "That isn't in dispute. And, again with the caveat that I'm no Prowl or military strategist of any kind, but it behooves us to not put forward a united front. That isn't just Autobots and Decepticons, it should be Neutrals as well... who, it seems, didn't get invitations to this, but that's clearly a matter for another time, so I'll leave it at that for now."
Punch pauses for a moment. "As for leadership... the Matrix is many things, but at the core it's a symbol. The situation with Veritas and Orion is a tricky one, to be sure. As an aside, though, I must wonder if we really put our best foot forward when it comes to Veritas having possession of the Matrix. Just my two shanix."
Asymmetrics would reply to Dust Devil, "The mere fact that we have to discuss this situation and that the absence of the Matrix has thrown a wrench into our administration is proof enough that a permanent solution is needed." She would nod to Punch in agreement.
Nathan Briar stood amidst a gathering of Autobots, his presence a testament to his unyielding dedication to Earth's survival. Surrounded by towering, sentient machines, he emphasized the urgency of finding common ground and establishing rules of engagement that would safeguard their planet. The room resonated with tension and skepticism, but Nathan's unwavering commitment to preventing further destruction compelled even the most skeptical Autobots to consider the possibility of a ceasefire, as Earth's fate hung in the balance. He listens to what is going on.
"Look, I get it. You don't want to be on Earth and Earth doesn't exactly need anymore lifeforms screw it up. Cobra and the Joes have caused their own problems. Can we trust Megatron to honor the alliance while we all deal with Maximo? Also, how long can the truce keep after we defeat Maximo? I am concerned that once we defeat Ol' Max, Megatro will take advantage of the peace and attack us."
Grimlock lifts a large hand and rubs his faceplate in thought. "Grimlock no take issue with that, Jazz. Fact it's solid idea. Send Swoop. Maybe Sludge, him big and visible." He refolds his arms, "We cooperate. Everyone happy." His attention is directed toward the sudden shift in discussion after that, and once in the not-so-distant past perhaps he would be kicking over the table and hijacking the discussion for himself, but he doesn't. He just glowers and says, sternly, "Whatever you Autobots do about you vacant command chair, you listen to Grimlock. Me Grimlock no care about Matrix or tradition. Grimlock say elevate someone who get the job done. Make hard choices."
Grimlock looks past the group and out over Cybertron, "Nothing out there right now be easy." Which is how he prefers it, but that's hardly the point right now, "And when this all over, this human got it right. You no want someone who no can handle this."
Alpha Trion'a response to him, at length, is enough to make the junkion throw his hands up into the air. Optics dimming and shaking his head now, there is a moment where he seems to be preparing to speak again before Pile-Up just shakes his head and turns from the assembly in general. Wending his way through the gathered ranks - the lone member of his species present working their way towards the exit.
"It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?" calling over his shoulder - pausing momentarily to lean down and lift what looks like a discarded armor panel from the floor. Making as if to exhale on it, buff the metal on his chestplate, and then tucks it into a panel on his hip.
Midway to the doorway to the meeting hall, he turns and Pile-Up's features look their age, "Questions... Morphology? Longevity? Incept dates? Fabulous secrets were revealed to me, and I've got no strings - to hold me down." snorting, "But for the low low price of Three dollars and fourteen cents - we'll bring you not one! Not two! But THREE deals of a LIFETIME! I'm Billy Mays and I... have... a plan. And remember, I'll eat anything you want me to eat! I'll saw'r anything you want me to saw! C'mon down, I'll... chew onna dog!"
Pile-Up turns again, waving off one hand now, as if dismissing the entire assemblage of Autobots and in turn continues for the exit.
Backblast nods "If he does, I'll help Earth." He tells Nate. "I've got some... special rounds for Megsy."
(Radio) Trion transmits, "After the meeting, can you please find out what that Junkion was offering? I feel as if I missed something important." to Dust Devil.
Dust Devil sends a radio transmission. (Radio) Dust Devil sends Trion a radio transmission, 'I've recorded what he said and will run it by Benin to make sure I got all the nuances right.'
(Radio) Trion transmits, "Thanks!" to Dust Devil.
There is the sound of fast, small falling pedes before the door slides open with a tired, annoyed-looking Starlock who clearly just woke up, so much so her glasses are still over her helm top. "Sorry, sorry, know my excuses at this point" She'd grunt before moving to try and find a seat, almost tripping over her own feet, then running into a chair before finally putting on her glasses proper. Starlock'd find her way over to Backblast. "What I miss?" She'd murmur softly. Starlock'd squint at seeing Trion in the room... Yeah, she missed something!
Backblast looks to Starlock "...a lot more than I can explain."
"Greaat hope someone is gonna summarise this in a report." Starlock would mutter softly as she sits next to Backblast.
Alpha Trion looks at Jazz in response to Chromia's question since Trion himself has not been updated. He looks at First Aid. "I can reach out to Megatron or send Crosscut." The small silver ambassador nods. "I wanted to hear first what our position should be as far as working together. We agree we work together against Liege Maximo, while watching our backs for expected blade?" He glances around the room, looking for consensus before simply giving orders.
Trion smiles at Backblast. "When the time comes, that sounds like a very amusing way to contact him, as well as stoke his paranoia at the same time," he chuckles. When Asymmetrics speaks, however, Trion once again listens. "Your points are valid," he begins. He looks at Chromia.
"How closely you wish to coordinate battle plans with Overlord, I will leave up to you. But, yes, we must share ONLY what is needed for co-defense, and give NOTHING else that can be used against us." He turns to Grimlock. "That, again, is where you come in. From what I understand, you are well-versed in showing up when needed to pull the Autobots' assets out of the fire.
"While we balance a ... joint operation," Trion says, discarding the use of the word 'alliance', "You watch our backs, Grimlock. Your independence means you can strike with impunity, and your ... innovative battle tactics will be difficult for Megatron to predict. You are our wild card in this poor hand fate has dealt us."
Trion turns back, and this time addresses the entire room. "As for the Matrix... I have led the Autobots before without use of the Matrix, and I am prepared to do so again. The new chain of command is this -- I lead our overall military assets, and Emirate Xaaron leads the civilian support forces. Elita One commands our troops on Cybertron, and Metalhawk controls those on Earth. Most of the divisions will remain the same, although I am placing Signal Flare in charge of Medical as I have other uses for the Torchbearers," he says without elaboration.
When Jazz speaks, Trion nods and smiles. Like Chromia and Grimlock, Trion trusts Jazz to know his slag. He looks at Dust Devil. "Right now, Veritas is in no position to even protect the Matrix. We must fix that situation as well. I know who has the skill to do so, but I'm hesitant to tap that resource."
Trion frowns. "And I'm sure you are correct that all these sudden problems -- sleeping sickness, the kidnappings -- it can't all be coincidence. Keep digging." He glances at Jazz. "If Nightbeat has recovered, put him on it. If anyone can tie all this together, it's him." He looks back with a frown.
"I gave Orion the Matrix to grant him wisdom. I built him a new body to give him power. The Matrix IS a symbol, but you are correct -- it's just that. Symbolic. We have many leaders with hard-won earned wisdom. I'd have given my life to protect the Matrix, but you are correct.
"We've come to rely on it too heavily. For years, Optimus never even mentioned its existence. It may have been better if we just continued to keep its presence secret." Except, you know, Unicron showed up in 1997 and they thought it might help. But Trion doesn't bring that point up.
Trion looks down at Nate as he speaks. "You can guarantee Megatron will attack us the moment he feels Maximo is defeated and we are tired from the fight. Perhaps even sooner if Maximo still has some control over him. So, as a human, and as someone from a world where things played out very differently -- is the presence of Decepticons on Earth worth it as an initial defense, or too dangerous to have around after the battle is won?"
Trion looks up and smiles as Grimlock speaks. Obviously, Trion agrees, but as Trion nominated HIMSELF as new leader, he may be a little biased. He looks a little disappointed as the Junkion leaves in frustration, and glances at Dust Devil, sending over a few radio quick messages. He does perk up to see Starlock enter the room, even if she is grumpy and sleepy (and possibly other dwarves he doesn't know about. She's the right height for it).
First Aid pauses. "Of course he will. He's a Decepticon. Deception is in their name." he says. I just want to make sure we're not fighting two fronts. An angry city destroying Megatron and Liege Maximo."
Her comment made, Assymetrics looks mildly aggravated before she goes on. "Then again on the concept of battle plans, there is the option that while the Decepticons are positioned to try and attack us as soon as the situation is amenable or whenever Megatron's moods shift that we can't do the same.
"Having our own operational plans ready to counterattack the Decepticons will allow us to possibly inflict substantial damage on their forces while they're overextended and deployed. It will be outside our normal tactical patterns so there's a probability that if it's pursued it won't occur to Megatron or to prepare for the circumstances."
Assymetrics goes to calculate for a few moments. "Overlord will pursue aggressive operations and will maneuver to attack us no matter what, forces in his theatre can be dug in and ready to counterattack. Punch as an administrator lacks Floodlight's analytical capabilities and so long as operational security is maintained there is a... Probability of operational success as he does not have the bureaucratic experience to anticipate a maneuver.
"Cyclonus has the experience and instincts for it, but without orders to be ready for such a thing he won't prepare for it. Any Decepticon commanders that are adept should be watched with caution if we pursue this. Onslaught, Bludgeon... The Destrons are unlikely to intercede if they're not attacked directly by their technical specifications."
Assymetrics accepts Alpha Trion's commentary when it comes to organizational methods. So long as Elita and Ultra Magnus approve it, that is something that she is entirely operational with. If the Decepticons were going to shoot first and the Bots knew it, why not beat them to the blaster?
Jazz takes a long sip of his herbal infused tea and gives a long optic stare at Assymetrics. He taps his PADD and says, "Assymetrics?" more of a question. "Two questions. Are you a strategist like it says in your profile or a diplomat/politician at heart? And where is all the Intel for your varied hypotheticals Mech?" he just defended Dust Devil. No one tell DD that.
Dust Devil sighs, "The Matrix may be symbolic in many ways, but you cannot deny that it HAS been of some value in the past. Its choices have been sound. The wisdom shared by it has aided us before. The fact that it chose Veritas makes me wonder if there is something of her that might give us the edge needed to stop Liege Maximo.
"Arbitrary removing the matrix just because... or because you don't like its choice. That might not be the answer. However,... putting in place a valid leadership that ASSISTS the matrix bearer. It would solidify many things. She isn't sure about being the leader. Not that ANYONE has given her a reason to think she even has a chance with us. But... with the support of a united command structure, And the skills she brings to the table, we could work together. It would also show to all of Cybertron that the Autobots aren't reliant on a red stamp as the sole way of life."
Nate's pacing slows as he processes Alpha Trion's ominous revelation. "If there's something out there with the power to control Megatron, then it's a menace beyond anything we've faced before, even the Decepticons themselves. We've got to prioritize neutralizing this threat," he declares, his voice resolute.
"Once we've dealt with Maximo, it might just be the opportunity we need to shift from defense to offense. Grimlock's leadership and sheer strength could be the key to finally toppling the Decepticons and bringing peace to Cybertron. It's time we take the fight to them, and this might be our chance."
The human gives a salute. "Sorry but not sorry for feeding the ego of a Dinobot. Best option we are going to have. We do their dirty move before they do it to us." He gives a nod, "I'll be back in touch. I will run this with my command, and I am aware I may have overspoken but I am familiar with what Megatron can evolve into. It's worse than the idea of Dust Devil becoming a Prime. Galvatron is the issue I fear the most." He then heads out.
Chromia just reaches up and pinches between her optics as she closes them for a second and can /visibly/ be seen counting backwards before she reopens her optics and lowers her hand back down, her expression again controlled, "I am prepared to work with Overlord as necessary, I will continue to keep up-to-date defensive plans, counter-attack plans and offensive plans that we have always had as ready as possibly." She would respond to the glance about discipline and Wreckers... but anyone who at this point realize those two words simply do not go together has issues that must be addressed outside of meetings.
Again, Chromia pauses as she re-orders her thoughts, "As for the Matrix... yes, it is a symbol but it is a powerful one that effects the moral of not only the neutrals but the Autobots on all levels. A leader without it is not the same as one who bears it. It simply draws out more from our people and at this time that /more/ is badly needed." She sighs briefly, "As much as I do not wish to say it... we need a Prime at a time like where so many things are going wrong. Veri... may bear the Matrix but she is not a Prime."
Backblast coughs "Respectfully..." Pause. "Yes, I mean that, not sarcastically... I disagree. She's currently without her body, but when she has it, she *is* a prime."
Starlock listens, which is what she's good at, still she has less info than the others, and knits her bows, okay Working with the cons, good, but are they...really gonna rely on the abet, rocky, but good roads she's made with the cons? She doesn't know how to feel on that, it could end up breaking things if it's really that too soon, she makes a visible face as she listens, and thinks. Having backup plans is good, Starlock agrees with Assymetrics on that, but maybe not shoot first? Prep for the worst, and hope for the best an all, especially with those Megatron surrounds himself with, who can, and will deviate if they smell weakness or a change... That and suspects who've been fueling him this whole time, having seen him just... /out/ of that kind of environment. Starlock's mad at being late, but wants to contribute, she crosses her arms annoyed now tapping at her platting, damnit she slept through it all. But at the mention of Veritas... "I agree with Dust Devil..." Starlock says finely. "She's just as scared as the rest of us, and fairly, lotta ya'll not really made a good impression." Starlock scoffs. "And I'll just say it now, I've been saying for /how long/ now that we can't just... always rely on the matrix? their holders are people too, who need support and help and... shouldn't just be sacrificial lambs."
Starlock says softly, sadly even. "I agree we need to keep our eyes on Megatron and whomever he'd suggest working with us, as that's just waiting for a plasma blast to the spark.... We can't let them near Iacon so we need a neutral base of operations to work."
"Me Grimlock glad we see eye to eye," Grimlock replies to Alpha Trion, the approval evident in his voice, "Grimlock always watch Autobot backs, even when you only see Grimlock's." He rolls his shoulders and lowers his arms, his voice a deep rumble as he listens to more talking about the Matrix.
"You want lead," he says, nodding to the far older machine, "Grimlock say confidence to claim it good start." He pauses at the ringing endorsement from Nate and chuckles again, "Me Grimlock no argue. Speak of..." He points at the room, "Grimlock said piece, now going to get to work. You talk glow rock religion all you want without me." He turns and strides to the exit, giving Springer a nod as he approaches.
"Disco Ball of doom!" Starlock corrects Grimlock.
Dust Devil offers, "Nah Disco ball of Doom is vector Sigma... nightlight of impeding doom would be the matrix."
Jazz also interjects, "By the way Trion. Pile Up said yes to helping."
Backblast glances at Dust Devil, then Starlock. "Rollout. Refreshments on tap, fortified enough to withstand an assault." He suggests. "Plus, there's a hidden bootlegger's tunnel from the refinery for reinforcements if shit goes south."
Springer gives Grimlock a high-five as the Dinobot leaves.
Grimlock returns the high-five. He's tough, not rude (to Springer).
Alpha Trion smiles at Asymmetrics's suggestion of a 'stab them before they stab us' plan. Trion glances at Grimlock meaningfully. "Well," he says mildly. "It IS the Decepticons' turn, to be fair," he comments. He then glances at Starlock. "However," he says more loudly. "I don't want any Decepticons injured that are helping in good faith.
"Starlock, can you help ensure Jazz knows who seems willing to help as a genuine attempt to protect Cybertron and not just to get into a position to betray us?" Trion glances at Jazz significantly before turning back to Asymmetrics and nodding approvingly at her further analysis of individual Decepticon leaders' depths and flaws, before raising his large optic ridge at Jazz's challenge of her statements without citing specific intel to back it up.
When Dust Devil pops up, Trion nods. "If we can get her back in a position where she can access the Matrix's wisdom, she could be a worthy advisor without the need to be the military commander. She can provide valuable insights even without the Matrix. We must find a way to protect her."
Trion listens to the others. "Well, I do wish to remind you that even if I don't use the title, I, too, am a Prime. One of the Original Thirteen. I was there when the Matrix was taken off the hilt of the sword and given to the Autobots to grant them wisdom. I will seek Veritas's counsel, but do not need the Matrix to beat Liege Maximo."
Trion's scowl softens at Starlock's words but doesn't disappear completely. "Any neutral base of operations would place any nearby in danger from the Hub's attack -- we'll have to choose the location carefully." He turns back to Chromia and Jazz. "Work with Backblast and Dust Devil and suggest some locations." He smiles at Starlock. "Feel free to make suggestions as well."
Trion smiles at Grimlock's... unique statement of approval. Suck it, Orion!
Finally, Trion turns back to the others. "Alright. Thank you for your time. Springer, Starlock -- I'd like to speak to you further, soon. But right now, I must think of what you have all said, and consult the Council." With a smile, he says, "You are all dismissed. Till all are one." At Jazz's comments, Assymetrics goes to resist the urge to glare before moving to defend herself. "I am not programmed with diplomatic protocols beyond bureaucratic ones as necessary. And all these suggestions rely purely upon known personality matrices and profiles of the mentioned Decepticons, and tactical analysis and experience.
"They rarely venture beyond their established parameters, so making conservative operational plans within these spectrums seems realistic." Assymetrics allows this correction and reframes her commentary. "But no specific intelligence."
The discussion of Veritas gets a flat look from Assymetrics. And a neutral expression. She looks dour and then returns her attention to the others. Annoyance radiating off her as she increases her coolant system output at the Dinobot.
"It's an idea BB, just... does it have the necessary computer and data equipment that would be necessary? and no offense, You, a number of wreckers here, and a handful of others are the only ones with the brass and ball bearings to walk openly right into kaon." Starlock nods. "Cause I imagine we'd need an actual fortification to make everyone feel... somewhat, on equal footing if slag hits the fan, be it Earth or cybertron... That and medical equipment, and supplies and just..." Starlock'd cringe thinking of it all then gesture to the mention of it drawing ire from Maxi's cronies. Starlock'd make a face at Trion being in charge... She didn't like it, it would cause strife and arguing, but she was in no position to argue, especially since he'd done it before. "...Are you sure about that Trion? You have also gotten that Veritas is a person... you have done that several times and thought more analytically before considering those around you... Would we be able to trust you to not throw our lives away 'for the greater good?'" Starlock says a bit defiantly, leaning don't the table. "...I can." Starlock says softly. "I just woke up so... i got nothing on my plate now if you wanna speak with me." She'd huff.
Dust Devil sends a radio transmission.
(Radio) Dust Devil sends Trion a radio transmission, 'it was good seeing you again. Hopefully we can chat when you aren't leading the universe.'
(Radio) Trion transmits, "Definitely." to Dust Devil.
Alpha Trion pauses and sighs, before heading down to the Chamber of the Ancients. "Starlock, this very meeting is demonstrative of me seeking OTHERS' counsel before making decisions. I've listened to the criticisms and taken them to spark. However, I am the oldest and wisest Autobot. And by that, I mean, I've made ALL the mistakes. You have no idea. But trust me -- no Autobot will be sacrificed unnecessarily.
At Jazz's comments, Assymetrics goes to resist the urge to glare before moving to defend herself. "I am not programmed with diplomatic protocols beyond bureaucratic ones as necessary. And all these suggestions rely purely upon known personality matrices and profiles of the mentioned Decepticons, and tactical analysis and experience.
"They rarely venture beyond tehes established parameters, so making conservative operational plans within these spectrums seems realistic." Assymetrics allows this correction and reframes her commentary. "But no specific intelligence."
The discussion of Veritas gets a flat look from her. And a neutral expression. She looks dour and then returns her attention to the others. Annoyance radiating off her as she increases her coolant system output at the Dinobot.
At the comment from Alpha Trion, she notes, "The fact that there's a specific programming disorder known purely of excessive rates of self-sacrifice amongst personnel is a sign of the need for stronger discipline and regimentation."
Dust Devil offers, "The Mantle of leadership isn't an easy one no matter how one spins the gyroscope. The world turns and even the best choices can cause the worst ta happen. All we can do is be supportive while we try ta figure what the next step is... even if ya don't agree with all the steps. Explain why ya don't so that those above us can make the most informed decisions. Cause somethin you might see COULD change how they do things.
"...I want to... But I've seen how you forget about others' feelings sometimes, and I just need to ensure, you can still hold yourself to that standard now, even after all these years." Starlock says clearly for the first time in her life, finding the words she actually wanted to say. She'd smile. "Age does not necessarily bequeath wisdom, thus should still be challenged in order to ensure one is still sharp and on their pedes and growing."
Dust Devil chuckles at Asymmetrics, "Ya make it sound like everyone here signed up ta be bots and in a war. Those that are here... most of them have survived the eons through their own skills and abilities and despite whatever flaws you might see in them. If this had been a proper war in the golden age....80...90 percent of those here wouldn't have been allowed ta join the war. We've all learned ta survive and that means dealin with the differences and oddities of those that ya work with."
Backblast laughs "He's not wrong. In the Golden Age, I'd have been executed for my crimes."
First Aid shakes his head "There's no such thing as a proper war. There's so much damage, so many dead and others left in worse conditions. I hope one day we'll learn violence does not solve all of our problems."
Asymmetrics would look incredibly annoyed at the comments from Dust Devil, "This hasn't anything -remotely- to do with that. I'm noting that if we are to be a coherent army, then the necessity of a level of conformity for the sake of chain of command and ability to operate in the field with reliability is needed. We are unfortunately at a point where we have had to for the last hundred and twenty thousand vorn operate as an army made up primarily of civilians and those willing to take up a blaster or servo in our cause."
An unsaid 'I am aware of it' is cut off by Asymmetrics sliding her faceplate shut. "I am noting that we will win faster with fewer casualties and collateral damage if we are more disciplined. There will be less loss to ourselves, Cybertron, and the Decepticons. The planet will be in a better state the faster we win the conflict, because it will not have to deal with our constant draining of its resources while it rejuvenates itself. Since you appear to only believe that my commentary is indicative of us wanting to die more efficiently, then there is little I can state that will reassure you."
Dust Devil grins and shakes his head, "Ain't sayin that at all... just sayin ta remember what we are made up of. Attemptin ta more strongly militarize the bots might end up causing many to leave rather than reform them. I'm just sayin ya gotta find that middle point between better discipline and acceptance of what we have offered here.
"Kinda like figurin how ta make me more useful by givin me ways ta burn up my exuberance in a creative but constructive way. We aren't the cons full of warbuilds. But what we have is a lot of mechs with a lot of spark. Even if I have ta admit that mechs like Cliffjumper and Gears and them...despite their flaws are valuable assets once utilized effectively."
Backblast looks to Asymmetrics. "If you think that's what he means you need to get your processors checked." he says, shaking his head and lighting an enercig. "I don't think you mean harm. But..." He sighs. "Got to think of things from the moral perspective. We shoot first /once/ and it's a PR victory for the Silver Shouter."
Starlock shrugs. "We've survived this long doing what we do, sure We'll need to change some things, but like any plan, it doesn't go off exactly as we want, so gotta be flexible, else, we'll break." she agrees with a nod trying to help Dust Devil by rephrasing it. "There is nothing wrong with being ready to get stabbed in the back, I wouldn't put that pass Overlord at all." Starlock'd cringe, remembering he maaaay have some gripes with her still. "But we don't shoot unless shot at, how all this mess started."
Alpha Trion listens to both sides before commenting quietly, "Well, let's just say the best bet is to have someone like Moonracer in place to shoot the barrel off Megatron's arm after he aims, but BEFORE he fires it. In the fair fight, it's not a moral outrage to draw first, as long as your opponent has a fair chance of responding."
Backblast nods softly at A3. "Or me ready to take his face off. I don't mind it being a... scapegoat."
Asymmetrics would snap at Backblast, "Things are not remotely that absurd nor simple. We have been in conflict for a hundred and twenty thousand vorn over which we have defended ourselves. By that tactical dictat, we are unable to attempt to liberate territory, go on a counteroffensive, or even engage in patrols.
"We cannot conduct hit and run raids on enemy locations or acts of sabotage. I hardly call a combat operation against a hostile enemy position something which sunders our moral authority to make. I also have faith in the ability of the Neutrals of the planet and the colonies to grasp such a point."
Asymmetrics would nod at Starlock, "It's virtually guaranteed that the Decepticons will engage in a massive strike against us the moment that the situation is allowable." She would nod at Punch's earlier comment. "So, I fail to see any sort of logical reasoning as to why we can only accept this and brace for it without having countermeasures. If the situation is favorable, a premeditated assault before they can launch their own attack has theoretical merit."
Backblast looks to Asymmetrics. "I am aware they weren't while people were asleep but have you forgotten he's got someone educated by the /masters/ of Terran PR, with access to Trypticon's broadcast antennae? Trust me, he'll do it and we'll lose the Neutrals. I'm not saying fight fair - I'm *quite* happy to go hunt him down while he's sleeping or any other time you want, but it MUST NOT be done where it can be used as a PR victory."
"..I dunno who you are..." Starlock says naturally but with a raised optic. "But I don't think we'll win by brute force, not anymore.... Tried, failed, we shouldn't focus on that right now anyway, and instead current situations with MAxi wanting to wipe our afts out." She'd huff. Starlock takes a breath. "I've gotten way further without violence than we have in the past millions of years..." she says softly.
Alpha Trion nods, and frowns. "I'm afraid I have to go. I'm going to be late with a meeting with the Council of Elders and trust me -- you DON'T want to know what kind of bitching and moaning that can lead to. I thank you all for your input. I will take it all wisely into account." With a bow and a flourish of his cape, Alpha Trion disappears into the hallway, past the Wrecker guards.
Dust Devil says, "No matter what we do, there are risks of this war starting over again with new players if we do the wrong things. Even if it's fer the right reasons. So, we better be sure of what we're gonna do....and be ready fer the results."
Dust Devil does give Alpha Trion a polite bow as the mech departs.
Asymmetrics would go still at Backblast's comments. "I lived through the sacking of Kaon when the uprising started, and the Decepticons were tearing apart limb by limb anyone who didn't join them or was in the stands, then going to slaughter every Cybertronian in the city. I functioned through the siege of Iacon when Straxus decided that the city wasn't worth conquering and had it leveled by artillery and the council executed when they surrendered.
"I do not doubt your perspective nor your courage, but this war will be decided by how we act and what we do. We will win this conflict /not/ by being afraid of what Megatron will do or will think. We will do what /we/ feel best serves our victory. And the mere fact that you consider Megatron a propaganda master by the standards of Sol Three has me concerned."
Intake through the air filters, exhale through the intakes. "Megatron is a master vocal-smith, and he eloquently forges a narrative out of slaughter and fear. We've all suffered enough, and this conflict will make us suffer more. He, however, does not get to decide how we fight the war.
"That is guaranteed to only end in one result. Our defeat and enslavement. If us beating him to the blaster before he attacks us is tactically beneficial, then I urge consideration of it. I for one am much more in favor of us inflicting damage upon the Decepticons rather than taking it for a change.
"If he is such a master of propaganda, then we can act purely defensively and he will spin the circuit that we were the ones that fired the first shot anyways, and it was only convenient that he had all of his artillery present and ready to bombard our positions by a stroke of luck and readiness against Autobot treachery. No matter what we do he will propagandize it as us being the aggressors and do an efficient job of it. "Our calculations will include that no matter the circumstances that he will effectively bombard the radio-waves with it. That goes without saying."
A passive nod is given to Alpha Trion as he departs.
Backblast laughs. "I wasn't talking about him, I was taking about Trypticon's Cityspeaker, Banshee. If we pre-emptively backstab, she WILL use it. She has... a sense of honour we can use, and the backstab will offend her no matter who does it." He shrugs. "Let's talk about this later. For now... I got to check on the 'rilas."
